Santa Cruz

Oh it's been a really long time since I've blogged about riding. Maybe because it's been a long time since I've ridden.

I was in Santa Monica CA for a good firend's wedding. My wife and I decided to drive to Santa Cruz CA to surprise her folks. I also knew my brother-in-law-that-rides-all-the-time might also be willing to take me to one of his favorite trails too, so we drove for 6 hrs.

The ride was interesting - We put in at Route 9 Ricon (?) trail that split into Yukon. He claimed it was one of his favorites. After miles of ascent and breathing really hard, I had to question that this could be anyone's favorite. I mean the redwoods are pretty but come on. Does anyone really _LIKE_ to climb?

Then it happened - we...descended...really fast. Mike, because he is a mad-man. Me, because I didn't want to loose sight of his back tire. The reason was purely for self presevation reasons. I knew I was less likely to ride off a cliff edge if I stuck close. Not that I wouldn't enjoy the lovely scene of redwoods on the way down...
